Prof. Talat Halman, Dean of Faculty of Humanities and Letters, passed away on December 5, 2014, following a massive heart attack.

Prof. Talat Halman will be greatly missed by everyone at Bilkent. We would like to express our profound condolences to Halman family, friends, students, and the Bilkent community.

There will be a ceremony in the Grand National Assembly at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 8. Prof Halman will be commemorated at our University on Monday, December 8 at 1:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall. The funeral services will be held at Teşvikiye Mosque in İstanbul following the noon prayers and the burial will take place at Edirnekapı Cemetery on Tuesday, December 9, 2014.

Transportation will be provided for the ceremonies according to the following schedule: For the ceremony at Grand National Assembly on Monday, December 8 at 11:00 AM, buses will depart from Rektorluk B-Block at 10:00 AM; For the commemoration at Bilkent Concert Hall at 1:30 PM same day, buses will depart at 1:10 PM from the same location.
