Calling the switchboard operator:
- Lift handset, wait for the dial tone and dial 0.
- It is not the duty of switchboard operators to connect external lines or to take messages.
Internal calls:
- Lift handset, wait for the dial tone and dial 4-digit extension.
External calls:

Lift handset, wait for the dial tone, dial 9 and then the external telephone number.
Only for users who are authorized to make external calls.
Error Tone:
If you hear an error tone (3 beeps) when dialing a number,
- You have dialed an invalid number or
- The number is out of order.
If you hear an error tone when programming a feature,
- You have dialed the codes incorrectly or
- You are not authorized to use the feature.
Using the Features
Outgoing Calls (Touch Tone and Pulse phones)
- Lift the handset, wait for the dial tone.
- For internal calls, dial the 4-digit internal number
- For external calls, dial 9 and then the external number.
Inquiry (Touch Tone)
During the course of an ongoing call, you may call another extension or external number by using the cradle switch (hook flash).
- To use: Press the cradle switch momentarily.
- You will hear a dial tone and the connected party is automatically parked.
- Now dial the extension or external number (preceded by 9).
- To return to the original party dial 2.
Inquiry (Pulse)
During the course of an ongoing call, you may call another extension or external subscriber.
- To use: While connected to a party, dial 1.
- You will hear a dial tone and the connected party is automatically parked.
- Now dial the extension or external number.
- To return to the original party dial 2.
Transfer (Touch Tone)
Call transfers can be made to any extension on the campus telephone system.
- Hang up the telephone momentarily by pressing the cradle switch momentarily and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial the number and wait for answer.
- After announcing the call replace the handset.
- If the transfer extension is busy or does not answer, dial 2 to return to the first party.
Transfer (Pulse)
Call transfers can be made to any extension on the campus telephone system.
- Hang up the telephone momentarily dialing 1 and wait for the dial tone.
- Dial the number and wait for answer.
- After announcing the call replace the handset.
- If the transfer extension is busy or does not answer, the call will automatically return to you.
Call Forwarding- if authorized (Follow-me) (Touch Tone)
This feature allows you to route your calls to another extension within the same system.
Initiating the feature from your own extension:
- Dial *21*answering position#.
Canceling from your own extension:
- You will hear the special dial tone when lifting the handset. Dial #21#.
Redirecting from answering position:
- To initiate, dial *21*own extension number*extension number of new answering position#.
To cancel from answering position,
- Dial #21*own extension number#.
Individual Call Pick-up (Touch Tone and Pulse)
If you hear your telephone ringing when you are in another room, you can answer your call from that extension.
- Lift the handset.
- Dial the extension of the telephone that is receiving a call.
- You will hear a busy tone. Dial 8.
Automatic Call-back- if authorized (Touch Tone)
If the called extension is busy or does not answer, you can request the system to call-back automatically as soon as the extension is free or has been used.
To initiate this feature:
- Dial 6 and replace the handset.
Answering:
- When you receive the special call-back signal, answer as usual within 8 seconds.
- After answering, the system will call the extension number on which you made the call-back.
Cancelling:
- To cancel all Call-backs dial#37#.
Automatic Call-back-if authorized (Pulse)
If the called extension is busy or does not answer, you can request the system to call-back automatically as soon as the extension is free or has been used.
- Dial 6 and replace the handset.
Answering:
- When you receive the special call-back signal, answer as usual within 8 seconds.
- After answering, the system will call the extension number on which you made the call-back.
External Number Redial (Touch Tone)
To automatically redial the last dialed external number, dial ***.
Conference (Touch Tone)
You can establish a speech connection with up to eight parties. Only the person initiating the conference call can admit participants.
- To initiate a conference call, establish a call to the first party.
- Press the cradle switch momentarily and after the dial tone,
- dial the second party?s extension number (and inform about the conference).
- Dial 3.
- To add a new party to an ongoing conference call use the cradle switch, extension number, 3 combination.
To leave the conference call, replace the handset..
A tone burst is heard each time a participant enters or leaves the conference. The conversation is changed back to a normal two-party connection when there are only two parties left.
Conference (Pulse)

Programming Abbreviated Numbers (Touch Tone)
You can program individual abbreviated numbers on all ten keys of your telephone. The numbers may be internal extensions or external telephone numbers.
- To program an abbreviated number, after hearing the dial tone, dial the following: *51*selected digit (0-9)*internal or external telephone number#. Replace the handset.
- To use one of the abbreviated numbers, dial ** followed by the 0-9 digit you have programmed.
To erase an abbreviated number,
- after hearing the dial tone, dial the following: #51*selected digit (0-9)#
- Replace the handset.
To erase all abbreviated numbers,
- after hearing the dial tone, dial the following: #51#.
- Replace the handset.
General Cancellation (Touch Tone)
To simultaneously cancel all features you have programmed, dial # 001# .
