The Center for Research in Transitional
Societies (CRTS) was established at Bilkent University in 2000. In a time when rapid
global flows intensify and complicate social transformations, each and every society, to
various degrees, faces significant changes in almost every aspect of social life. In this
respect, we think of transitional societies as a general indication of the fundamental
changes of the world in which we live. The Center provides a venue for new thinking on the
relationship between the global, regional, and local dimensions of
life in transitional societies. The Center encourages comparative and interdisciplinary
approaches and research to understand complex phenomena and promotes methodological
creativity and pluralism. The Center serves as an international platform for interested
scholars to study the social, cultural, political, economic, and business issues in
transitional societies. |
